I've been a big fan of Arlo Guthrie for many years. I admire his writing and his sense of humor. When living in Boston, I used to take trips to New York City to work with Arlo Guthrie's Mom Marjorie. Woody Guthrie died of Huntingtons Disease and I would do volunteer work for Marjorie. She formed a group, Combat Huntingtons Disease. I performed benefit concerts for them. Marjorie was like a second mother to me and I was hit hard when she died of cancer. I got to know Arlo Guthrie very well. The two Arlo's even meet. Woody Guthrie named his son Arlo because of a comic strip that resembled Woody. When I was pregnant, I told Marjorie I was going to name my son Arlo. She said "Why? I hate that name!" She gave him Davey as a middle name in case if he didn't like the name Woody gave him. But as we all know, he kept Arlo. And my son Arlo loves his name. He is a unusual person like his namesake. How lucky that through knowing Arlo Guthrie, I was able to know Gordon Lightfoot , John Denver and Pete Seeger. All great men and musicians.
